Simple Sherlock Tea Cosy by A Very British Affair @ Two Red Trees

Inspired by A Very British Affair's original Sherlock tea cosy, just simpler! The cosy comprises six panels, two recycled wool, one boiled Fairisle and three tweed, featuring a padded complementary tweed panel with 'A VERY BRITISH AFFAIR's' logo name tag. Each panel has been padded and lined with a pale grey felted Shetland wool before being overstitched together leaving a hole for the spout and handle. The knitted woollen rose on top has been finished with a vintage leather button. The cosy measures roughly 24cm high and each panel is about 13cm at its widest point, so it’s about 82cm in circumference at the base. It very comfortably fits a Denby 2 1/4 pint teapot and will accommodate a much larger pot.

Handmade Ceramic Bandicoot Sculpture by Yoona's Designs

Bandicoots are some of the more visible animals in suburban gardens as they love to snoot around for worms in freshly rained on lawns. They are nocturnal, as are most of Tasmania's and Australia's native animals. Due to their liking for lawns, they come into contact with domestic pets quite frequently, and consequently a significant reason for the reduction in their numbers is due to being killed by cats and dogs. People are now more aware and try to keep their pets indoors, especially at the time of night Bandicoots are active. This handsome little fella is slip-cast using a porcelaineous stoneware, hand finished and measures 8cm long x 4cm high. Fantastic!

Ceramic Speaker System by Joey Roth

The Ceramic Speakers are made from materials more associated with sculpture than electronics, and offer a remarkably simple path from source to ear. Their 4" full-range drivers and Tripath amplifier create a sound that’s warm, dry, and detailed. The Ceramic Speakers will show the difference between lossless and mp3 files, and will unlock vinyl’s richness.

“Joey Roth’s Ceramic Speakers are just about the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen, and they sound amazing.” – Gizmodo

“A seamless marriage of drool-worthy design and audiophile-worthy sound.” – Wired

The Ceramic Speakers are made from porcelain, cork, and Baltic birch. Each material is minimally finished, left to add its natural beauty to the design. The included amplifier is made from stainless steel sheet metal, with a cast iron base and paulownia volume slider. Aside from the electronic components, plastic is completely avoided in the system’s construction. Typical speakers are designed to play even the most compressed or poorly recorded track. They gloss over the details that give high-resolution music its depth. The Ceramic Speakers’ custom-made drivers, porcelain and cork enclosures, and Tripath amplifier reveal every nuance. They will show the difference between lossless and mp3 files, and will unlock vinyl’s richness. I love them!

Bleu Marin Cereal Bowl by Milestone Decal Art

This cereal bowl features a stripey blue fish with bright yellow eyes. He seems a bit sheepish, swimming into the bowl, his tail partially obscured, though with fish you never can tell…The 6.25 inch porcelain bowl is a nice size for cereal, soup or salad. The design was created using a Victorian scientific drawing. The image is hand applied to the bowl then kiln-fired at 1500 for a permanent finish. It is safe for dishwasher, microwave and food use. Also available as a large pasta bowl or medium square bowl.

Loveseat by Jake Phipps

It was the genteel Victorians who originally popularised the loveseat. Courting couples could whisper sweet nothings whilst remaining seated in a state of  chaste restraint. Although we might laugh at such primness and exaggerated propriety, the loveseat remains a powerful symbol of love and romance. The seat’s form suggests the duality of a loving and successful partnership: fundamentally opposed, yet with complimentary principles of balance and unity. Facing in opposite directions, a couple can share a conversation, with their different perspectives providing a more complete outlook on the world around them. Materials: Cedar / English Oak. Dimensions: 50cm x 50cm x 125cm. Designed by Jake Phipps and manufactured by Riva1920. Wow!

Hand Dyed Silk Carrier Rods by The Rainbow Girl

These five carrier rods have been hand dyed in navy blue, purple, mauve and violet using procion dyes. The colours are very vibrant and the rods have a beautiful sheen to them. Each rod is about 5-6 inches long (12 -15cm) and 1/2 inch (1cm) wide when tightly rolled to 1 inch (2.5cm) when flat. Silk carrier rods are a by-product of silk production. The silk fibres from a cocoon are wound over a rod while being spun, and as they contain sericin (a glue like substance) they form a hard covering on the rod which has to be cut away. This is the silk carrier rod. They can be used as they are, to add a structural element to mixed media or textile art, or rolled between the hands to soften them and separated into several layers. These layers can be stretched to produce a lacy texture, and twisted into a rough yarn, or just laid onto a background and stitched together.
